“It’s literally like playing restaurant for the night…. You create the event and then it’s over” – The Saucy Sister.
If you’re searching for something different in Amador County, The Saucy Sister Club is the thing to check out. It’s invite-only, so you have to sign up for their email list. It’s super intimate with a limit of 18-24 guests. The menu and location are secret (don’t worry location is no more than 10 miles from Plymouth).
The Saucy Sisters had us excited from the start, promising a diverse menu of tantalizing dishes inspired by global flavors and a location we would be enchanted by. The location and menu was kept secret to us until 24 hours prior to the event. The anticipation almost killed me.
For the inaugural dinner, we were blessed to gather at Plein Air Vineyards. From the moment we arrived at Plein Air Vineyards, we were greeted by breathtaking views of rolling vineyards, bathed in the warm hues of the setting sun. The ambiance alone set the stage for a memorable evening, and we were already feeling that we were in for something extraordinary.
As we entered the tasting room at Plein Air Vineyards, the warm and inviting atmosphere welcomed us, and immediately took us to another place. We were greeted with a sparkling brut by Tom and Sarah Malone, Owners of Plein Air Vineyards. They walked us through a tasting of their wines and made suggestions for pairings with our upcoming dinner.
Before I make your mouth’s water by walking you through our dinner, I have to tell you about the guests. The Saucy Sisters says the guest list is random, and it was. While Amador is a small community and some guests did know each other, most did not. I was able to meet people I would normally not meet and get to know them and their relationship to Amador County. I walked into a room of 17 strangers and I walked out with 17 new friends.
The menu. The menu itself was everything. I cannot put into words the culinary experience my tastebuds experienced so I will simply walk you through the five-course dinner.
The first course was a Watermelon Cube Salad, topped with feta, baby cucumber, pistachio, basil & borage, dressed with pomegranate syrup and olive oil.
The second course was a Golden Beet Carpaccio with pickled mustard seeds and greens.
The third course was a Seared Tuna Tiradito with cilantro-chili sauce, jicama, passion fruit pulp, and mango.
The fourth course was Red Wine Braised Short Ribs with potato mash with manchego, gremolata and bacon-wrapped green bean stack.
The fifth course was a White Chocolate Bread Pudding with raspberry sauce and white chocolate drizzle.
This was a culinary experience I will never forget.
As a group of strangers and new friends, we voted to have Plein Air Vineyards open two bottles of each recommended pairing to the menu and shared it amongst ourselves. Wine is not included in the ticket price, and sharing the cost of wine with the group was the most cost-effective way to do so. The wine pairings were perfect and gave us another chance to explore and fall in love with Plein Air Wines.
The Saucy Sister is creating an experience for Amador County and I do not doubt these dinners will be the event of each quarter. As I mentioned, you have to be on the email list to get updates and invites, so make sure you sign up at thesaucysister.com. Trust me, you do not want to miss out on this experience.
